About The Show: "Out of Denmark" with Johan Kobborg and The Sarasota Ballet

Johan Kobborg, the Erik Bruhn of today and one of the top male dancers worldwide, returns to Sarasota to collaborate with the Sarasota Ballet on a new version of "Out of Denmark", a program that he and Iain Webb originally produced in London at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Flemming Flindt's The Lesson is a 1963 ballet of murder with the ingénue ballerina as victim, the perpetrator being the trusted ballet teacher, and the piano accompanist the voyeur-provacateur.

Act III of Napoli, choreographed by Bournonville, features a celebration of the reuniting of two Neapolitan lovers. Whereas Marius Petipa, the famous French choreographer working in St. Petersburg, created ballets about royalty, Bournonville was more interested in the folk genre.

The ballet was choreographed after Bournonville had visited Naples where he had been impressed by the local color and the vibrancy of a city in constant movement. He strove to include the 'brightness and dynamism' of the city in the work.

About The Asolo/FSU Center for the Performing Arts

The new main stage is a reconstruction of the historic Dunfermline Opera House from Scotland's ancient capital city. The ornate plasterwork interiors, dismantled and stored at the time of the theater's demotion in 1982 have been reassembled and restored to their original elegance.

The theatres, parking and bathrooms are all fully accessible to persons with disabilities. Wheelchair seating is available in all theatres and must be requested in advance by calling the box office.
